Responsible Sourcing Initiative India, Deluxe Project Launch

In partnership with PepsiCo, Tetra Pak, and Deluxe Recycling, the Responsible Sourcing Initiative launched a new project in India during a workshop in Bangalore, where stakeholders gathered to discuss interventions aimed at strengthening responsible sourcing in Deluxe Recycling’s value chain.

The project seeks to improve the working conditions of informal waste workers within Deluxe’s recycling value chain. India generates approximately 9.3 million tonnes of plastic waste annually, with an estimated 4 million informal waste sector workers playing a crucial role in waste collection and recycling. Despite their contributions, these individuals face persistent marginalization, unsafe and hazardous environments, and low wages.
