Varun supports the development of The Circulate Initiative’s knowledge products and strategic programmes, with a particular focus on mobilizing capital investment into the circular economy for plastics in emerging markets and developing economies.

Varun brings over five years of dedicated experience in the circular economy and sustainability domain, complemented by previous experience in business finance.

Prior to joining The Circulate Initiative, Varun held several roles at rePurpose Global, where he led work across sustainability strategy, product innovation, industry intelligence, and packaging policy. He partnered with product and go-to-market teams to operationalize complex, multi-jurisdictional packaging regulations into scalable compliance solutions for global CPG brands and managed strategic and technical engagements with industry forums, including the PREVENT Waste Alliance, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), and the World Economic Forum’s Global Plastic Action Partnership (GPAP).

Varun holds a Master of Arts in International and Development Studies (Environment and Sustainability) from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), Switzerland.
