Georgina Njeru
Program Associate, Responsible Sourcing Initiative Africa
Georgina supports the coordination of the Africa projects of the Responsible Sourcing Initiative, a multi-year program addressing human rights challenges in recycling value chains and advancing responsibly sourced recycled materials.
She has over five years of experience working at the intersection of environmental governance, sustainability, and human rights, with a focus on plastic pollution, waste management, and circular economy initiatives in Africa.
Prior to joining The Circulate Initiative, Georgina worked at the Centre for Environment Justice and Development (CEJAD), where she focused on combating plastic pollution and strengthening waste management systems in Kenya. Her work involved coordinating multi-stakeholder dialogues, leading civil society campaigns, and contributing to policy development and advocacy efforts. Georgina also worked closely with waste pickers and informal waste workers, supporting their advocacy and capacity building through targeted training and engagement while amplifying their voices in policy and decision-making spaces. She is committed to systemic, people-centered approaches to addressing plastic pollution, with a focus on environmental justice, inclusive circular economy models, and the protection of vulnerable communities. Georgina holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Strathmore University, Kenya.
