Georgina Njeru
Program Associate, Responsible Sourcing Initiative Africa
Georgina supports the program coordination of the Responsible Sourcing Initiative in Africa.
She has over five years of experience working at the intersection of environmental governance, sustainability, and human rights, with a strong focus on plastic pollution, waste management, and circular economy initiatives in Africa.
Prior to joining The Circulate Initiative, Georgina worked at the Centre for Environment Justice and Development (CEJAD), where she focused on combating plastic pollution and strengthening waste management systems in Kenya. Her work involved coordinating multi-stakeholder dialogues that brought together government, private sector, and civil society actors, leading civil society campaigns, and contributing to policy development, and advocacy aimed at advancing effective and inclusive solutions to plastic pollution.
Georgina also worked closely with waste pickers and informal waste workers, supporting their advocacy and capacity-building efforts through targeted training and engagement, and amplifying their voices in policy and decision-making spaces. She is deeply committed to systemic and people-centred approaches to addressing plastic pollution, with a particular focus on environmental justice, inclusive circular economy models, and the protection of vulnerable communities.
Georgina holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Strathmore University, Kenya,
