Responsible Sourcing Initiative India, Srichakra Project Launch

In collaboration with Coca-Cola India and Srichakra Polyplast, the Responsible Sourcing Initiative launched a project in India during a workshop in Hyderabad, where stakeholders came together to review early project assessments, identify opportunities to enhance worker welfare, and outline potential solutions to guide implementation.

The project aims to improve the livelihoods of informal waste sector workers in Srichakra’s recycling value chain and promote responsible sourcing practices across the plastics recycling supply chain. India generates approximately 9.3 million tonnes of plastic waste annually, with an estimated 4 million informal waste sector workers playing a crucial role in waste collection and recycling. However, these workers face persistent marginalization, inadequate pay, child labor, and health risks.
